EMSD Says Tai Ri Elevators Had Serious Deficiencies in Replacing Lifts at Two Estates, Referred to Police over Suspected Fraud and False Statements
The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department says Tai Ri Elevators failed to install fire-resistant door frame components in a total of 48 lifts at Tsui Ping North Estate in Kwun Tong and Po Hong Estate in Sha Tin, and that the works had serious deficiencies. The department will refer the case to the police to follow up on suspected fraud and the provision of false statements. The department says the lifts can still operate safely, and has instructed Tai Ri to bear all costs and complete the rectification within one month, during which the lifts must be suspended from operation.
