Rare chestnut-and-black weaver spotted in Hong Kong, nesting in Kowloon Walled City Park

A rare chestnut-and-black weaver bird was recently spotted in Kowloon Walled City Park, drawing large numbers of photography enthusiasts who gathered at the site in the early morning. The bird has no previous recorded presence in Hong Kong and is not a migratory species, being found mainly in Africa; it is estimated to have been kept as a pet or released. It has not yet been included in the Hong Kong bird list, nor is it classified as a "vagrant".
