John Lee Speaks at Opening Ceremony of 2026 Greater Bay Area Science Forum, Says Hong Kong Will Build International Innovation and Technology Centre

In a video address at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Greater Bay Area Science Forum, Chief Executive John Lee said the Hong Kong SAR Government published the Hong Kong First Five-Year Plan in September this year, proposing that Hong Kong basically establish an international innovation and technology centre by 2030 that is rooted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, radiates across the country and connects the world. He said more than 120 innovation and technology enterprises and institutions have moved into the Hong Kong Park of the Loop, which will form coordinated development across the upstream, midstream and downstream with the San Tin Technopole. Hong Kong will also discuss a joint action plan with Guangdong Province and establish an industrial innovation platform with Shenzhen.
