Hong Kong Bar Association calls for cap on proxy voting and electronic voting to tackle bid-rigging in building works

The Hong Kong Bar Association has recommended capping proxy voting at owners' meetings and introducing an electronic voting system to curb abuse and bid-rigging in the procurement of large-scale maintenance works. The Bar Association said it would not restrict who may act as a proxy, while chairman Jose-Antonio Maurellet has reservations about the government's proposal to limit owners' representatives to relatives.
