Bank of Asia obtains Hong Kong banking licence, becoming first Central Asian bank to establish presence in Asia-Pacific

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has granted a banking licence to Bank of Asia from Kyrgyzstan, effective today. The bank will establish a restricted licence bank in Hong Kong under the name "Bank of Asia Hong Kong Branch", making it the first Central Asian bank to set up a business presence in the Asia-Pacific region. With the licence taking effect, the number of restricted licence banks in Hong Kong has increased to 17.
