Wong Ngon-yin faces national security investigation charge and trial over incitement video; prosecution says defendant released footage disclosing contents after meeting with National Security Department

Current affairs commentator Wong Ngon-yin (original name Wong Ngor-ngan) today pleaded not guilty to two charges, including "an offence of obstructing an investigation into acts endangering national security", and is on trial at the District Court. In opening remarks, the prosecution said that after a fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, police received intelligence that some individuals, including the defendant, were preparing to hold a press conference with the intention of inciting discord, and that the defendant released a video disclosing the contents of a meeting after meeting with officers from the police's National Security Department.
