Lawmakers Propose Various Commemorative Activities for 30th Anniversary of Handover; Home and Youth Affairs Bureau Says Announcements Will Be Made in Phases

Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak said in the Legislative Council that plans for celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China will be announced in phases, and will not be deferred until next year. Several lawmakers put forward suggestions: Elizabeth Kwan proposed including the proportion of overnight non-mainland visitors among the indicators for 'Handover Celebration Tourism', Tang Ka-piu proposed focusing commemorations on the 'Two Airlines Uprising', and Junius Ho proposed commemorating the martyrs of the New Territories 'Six-Day War'.
