Aurand Appointed as Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal from Another Common Law Jurisdiction

Chief Executive John Lee accepted the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission and, after obtaining the consent of the Legislative Council, appointed Aurand as a non-permanent judge of the Court of Final Appeal from another common law jurisdiction under the Basic Law and the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Ordinance. Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal Andrew Cheung welcomed the appointment. Aurand retired as a permanent judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in April 2017. After the appointment, the list will include 6 distinguished judges from the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
