Hong Kong Monetary Authority urges public to beware of scam websites involving Bank of East Asia and two other banks

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority urges the public to stay vigilant. Bank of East Asia, Shanghai Commercial Bank and Bank of Singapore have issued press releases regarding scam websites and fraudulent online banking login screens, with relevant hyperlinks uploaded to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's website. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority reminds members of the public that banks will not direct customers to make transactions through hyperlinks in SMS messages or emails, nor will they ever ask for login passwords and one-time passwords. Those who have provided such information should call 2860 5012 to report the case to the Information Centre of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Hong Kong Police Force.
