Electoral Affairs Commission Issues Guidelines on Electioneering for Rural Representative Elections, Applicable to Next Year's Rural Ordinary Election

The Electoral Affairs Commission today issued guidelines on electioneering for rural representative elections under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance, applicable to the 2027 Rural Ordinary Election to be held in early next year and subsequent rural by-elections. The commission conducted a public consultation on the proposed guidelines from 20 July to 18 August, and reminded those intending to stand for election and other stakeholders to read the guidelines and relevant electoral legislation carefully and strictly comply with the requirements. The guidelines are available on the commission's website, at the offices of the Registration and Electoral Office, at district civil affairs consultation centres and at major public libraries.
