LegCo strongly opposes and is dissatisfied with British officials' remarks smearing Hong Kong's judicial system
LegCo strongly opposes and is dissatisfied with the inaccurate remarks made by UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office officials on Indo-Pacific affairs regarding the verdict in the Alliance case, and demands that the British side immediately cease any words and deeds that interfere in Hong Kong affairs. A spokesperson pointed out that the British side's claim that the defendants were convicted merely for a "peaceful commemorative activity" ignores the facts, as the court's sentencing remarks made clear that, after the Hong Kong National Security Law came into force, the defendants still aimed to overthrow and undermine the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party under the Constitution and committed criminal acts of incitement. LegCo criticised that the UK itself has numerous stringent laws safeguarding national security, yet makes unreasonable criticisms of Hong Kong, which is a hypocritical act of double standards.
