Nomination Period for New Election Committee Election Opens, 305 Candidate Nomination Forms Received on First Day

The nomination period for the new Election Committee election opens today, with voting on 22 November. Returning officers for various functional constituencies received a total of 305 candidate nomination forms and two nomination forms from designated organisations on the first day. The HKFTU will field 46 candidates in the Labour subsector election, the Federation of Trade Unions will field 12, and Create Smart will field 15 in the Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication sector, while the Education Professionals Alliance will field 14 in the Education subsector. The Election Committee comprises 1500 members, divided into five broad sectors with 300 seats each, and the nomination period closes on 22 of this month.
