HKMA and HKUST Launch Post-Quantum Cryptography Toolkit to Help Banks Be Quantum-Ready by 2030

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology today launched a post-quantum cryptography toolkit, providing banks with a framework and practical tools to plan and advance their transition. The first score on the Quantum Readiness Index launched by the HKMA in July 2026 was 2.3 out of 10, showing that the banking sector's transition deployment remains at an early stage. The toolkit aims to help the banking sector become fully prepared for the quantum era by 2030.
