Postal Staff Union: Converted Postmen Can Take Up Clerical Posts on Pay

The Civil Service Bureau has arranged for affected postal staff to transfer to other grades with priority in recruitment, and early next year will arrange for staff to sit the examination for Assistant Clerical Officer or Clerical Assistant. About 260 postal workers and postmen who have completed their probation will not be given long-term employment and will instead be rehired on civil service contracts for two years. The union said some staff may not meet the eligibility requirements for the examination, and hoped the authorities would provide more suitable options to ensure all staff are employed as long-term civil servants.
