Sun Dong Tells LegCo About Computing Power and Utilities Arrangements Supporting Smart Computing Industry Development
立法會五題:支持智算產業發展
Sun Dong replied in LegCo to Elizabeth Quat's question, saying Hong Kong's overall computing power reaches 5 000 PFLOPS per second, of which the Cyberport AI Supercomputing Centre accounts for 3 000 PFLOPS, with a utilisation rate of over 90 per cent. The Sha Loeng Data Park is expected to begin first-phase operations in 2027 and be fully in service by 2032, by which time it will provide 180,000 PFLOPS of computing power per second; the authorities also said that at this stage there is no need to build a dedicated water supply corridor or quota for the smart computing industry.
The reply sets out short-, medium- and long-term computing power supply arrangements and gives specific figures for existing computing capacity, the supercomputing centre's utilisation rate and the Sha Loeng Data Park, allowing the timetable to be checked.
