Election Committee Nomination Period Passes Halfway Point, 26 Functional Constituencies Require Voting, Double the Previous Election

The Election Committee election nomination period has passed its halfway point, with the Electoral Affairs Commission receiving a cumulative total of 1,061 candidate nomination forms, already exceeding the 1,056 from the previous election. As of yesterday, 26 functional constituency groups require voting to elect members, double the number of the previous election, many of which are in the business, industry and finance sectors; at least 8 former Legislative Council members are also standing through other channels.
