John Lee Meets Shanghai Mayor Zhu Zhongming, Says Hong Kong-Shanghai Cooperation Across Many Fields Is Seamless

Chief Executive John Lee met Shanghai Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor Zhu Zhongming in Shanghai. Xu Qifang, Executive Deputy Director of the Central Hong Kong and Macao Work Office and the State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, also attended. Lee said Hong Kong and Shanghai cooperate seamlessly in fields including innovation and technology, the digital economy, trade and investment, and finance. Hong Kong will actively play its role as a global offshore renminbi business hub and deepen offshore renminbi business collaboration with Shanghai. He also said Hong Kong's central gold clearing and settlement system will launch in the first quarter of next year, and he hopes to strengthen cooperation with mainland exchanges including the Shanghai Gold Exchange and the Shanghai Futures Exchange.
