Chief Executive in Council Approves Licence Renewal for 3 Free-to-Air TV Stations for 12 Years, Increasing National Education Programme Hours and Relaxing Language Programme Restrictions

The Chief Executive in Council has approved the renewal of licences for 3 local free-to-air television stations for 12 years, relaxing the flexibility for Cantonese and English general channels to broadcast programmes in non-designated languages, relaxing limits on Putonghua programmes, and allowing English channels to broadcast live sports events in their original language. Enhanced requirements include producing English programmes to "Tell Hong Kong's Story" well and increasing the broadcast hours of programmes related to national education.
