Hong Kong Monetary Authority issues notice on bank-related scams

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority urges the public to remain vigilant, noting that several banks have issued press releases regarding scams involving fraudulent websites, online banking login pages and impersonation emails, among others, including a fraudulent mobile application of Bank of Singapore Limited. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority reminds the public that banks will not request sensitive information such as login passwords and one-time passwords via hyperlinks in SMS messages or emails, and that those who have provided personal information should call 2860 5012 to report the case to the Information Centre of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Hong Kong Police Force.
