Legislative Council Question 22: Number of small houses in the New Territories

Secretary for Development Chris Yeung replied in writing to the Legislative Council, stating that as the policy has been confirmed lawful and constitutional by the Court of Final Appeal, the Government has no plan to review the New Territories small house policy at present. From the implementation of the policy to the end of June 2026, the Lands Department approved a total of 41,453 applications for certificates of compliance for small houses and approved 15,612 cases for the removal of alienation restrictions. The Government will establish a $200 million "Northern Metropolis Rural-Urban Integration Fund", which will accept applications and approve the first batch of projects next year.
