Mable Chan said the government is glad to see 11 SKIES handed back to the Airport Authority on 1 April next year, and hopes the Airport Authority will establish a clear direction and timetable to upgrade and transform the project into a high-end tourism and experiential activities landmark. New World Development terminated the contract early, handing it back without compensation and paying a total of about $3.3 billion, including $2.3 billion in cash compensation and up to $1.05 billion in engineering and service fees. The Airport Authority will set up a dedicated subsidiary and a full-time team.
