Chief Justice Welcomes Appointment of Lord Neuberger as Non-Permanent Common Law Judge

Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal Andrew Cheung welcomes the Chief Executive's acceptance of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission's recommendation to appoint Lord Neuberger as a non-permanent judge from another common law jurisdiction of the Court of Final Appeal, and the Government will seek the Legislative Council's consent. After the appointment, the number of non-permanent judges from other common law jurisdictions will increase from 5 to 6, enhancing flexibility in handling the work of the Court of Final Appeal.
