Architects Institute Venice Exhibition Recreates Municipal Services Buildings to Showcase Local Public Architecture Ingenuity

The Hong Kong Institute of Architects Venice Biennale and Travelling Architecture Exhibition 2025/26 recreates post-war public architecture in archive form, including cases such as Kwun Chung Municipal Services Building, Quarry Bay Market and Cooked Food Centre, and the "Red Apple" market in To Kwa Wan. Curator Au Fai says municipal services buildings of this kind, with markets on the lower floors and cooked food centres, sports halls and libraries above, have not appeared on the mainland or abroad, and are a manifestation of Hong Kong's architectural ingenuity. The exhibition also features Chungking Mansions, Yick Fung Building, Wah Fu Estate and Choi Hung Estate.
