AI briefing
The Air Accident Investigation Branch has published investigation reports on two paragliding accidents. In the one at Lantau Peak, Lantau Island on 17 June 2024, the pilot very likely lost control of the paraglider in strong updraughts and clouds, and died after falling to the ground. In the other accident at Ngong Ping, Ma On Shan on 11 February 2025, the pilot applied excessive "left brake", causing the left side of the wing to stall and spin, and fell onto grassland, where he was injured and fell into a coma. The branch has issued safety recommendations to the Paragliding Association of Hong Kong, China and the Paragliding Association International following both accidents.
