Wong Po-shun family's Luen Kiu Plaza seeks conversion to student hostel

Luen Kiu Plaza in Ngau Tau Kok, held by the Wong Po-shun family, has applied to the Town Planning Board to convert over 90 per cent of its floor area into a student hostel, involving about 90,000 square feet of floor area and providing 240 rooms and 434 hostel places. The applicant said that if the application is approved, the student hostel is expected to begin operation in June 2028. After the government launched the "Study in the City" scheme, many owners immediately applied to convert their properties into student hostels.
