Government raises minimum wage for foreign domestic workers to $5,220; Employees' Union says increase is moderate

The government announced a 2.35% increase in the minimum wage for foreign domestic workers, from $5,100 to $5,220 per month. Chan Tung-fung, chairman of the Hong Kong Employees' Union, believes the increase is moderate for employers and expects both employers and workers to accept it; Sringatin, secretary of the Hong Kong Indonesian Migrant Workers' Union, however, believes that the piecemeal adjustment can only provide limited relief for foreign domestic workers' burden.
