Union Urges Inclusion of Waiting and Order-Grabbing Time in Platform Workers' Injury Protection

The government plans to set up an injury compensation mechanism for platform workers such as food delivery riders and couriers, and will put forward legislative proposals within this year, but the preliminary legislative framework does not propose to mandatorily cover waiting and order-grabbing time. A union believes the framework offers less protection than existing insurance on food delivery platforms, and suggests including waiting and order-grabbing time in the scope of legal protection, as well as calling for a statutory minimum for food delivery workers' injury sick leave pay and regulation of platforms to provide accident-related information.
