The government proposes building a new crematorium at Wo Hop Shek Cemetery, expected to open in 2032, with preliminary estimated construction costs of about 20億3340萬元. The new crematorium will feature 10 brand-new cremators and 6 ceremonial halls, shortening the average duration of each cremation session from about 90 minutes to about 75 minutes, and providing about 21600 additional time slots per year. Currently, the 6 crematoria under the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have a total of 34 cremators, and their utilisation rate is approaching saturation.
