Youth Bureau Follows Up on Tai Po Youth Hostel Procurement as Organisation Refunds Cost of Unused Equipment

The Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, regarding the Audit Report's mention of excessively high procurement costs for furniture and equipment at the Tai Po youth hostel, has met the relevant non-governmental organisation to follow up seriously. The organisation has fully refunded to the government the cost of all unused equipment and undertaken to thoroughly review its internal procurement procedures and guidelines. The bureau has written to all funded non-governmental organisations urging them to follow the government's funding rules and use public money prudently, and to update the relevant guidelines with reference to the Government Logistics Department's October 2025 guidelines and the Audit Commission's recommendations to strengthen control over future procurement.
