People's Daily Online has published an article by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office theoretical study central group, saying Hong Kong must strengthen its district governance system, improve public governance effectiveness, and resolutely prevent and curb the occurrence of major safety accidents to ensure social stability. After the government last week published the independent committee report on the Wang Fuk Court fire, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office successively issued articles supporting the SAR government's work, and Lai Tung-kwok believes this shows the central authorities are satisfied with the SAR's handling.
