John Lee: Buildings Department seriously investigating One Stanley rebar discrepancy with plans, reiterates importance of construction quality

Chief Executive John Lee said the Buildings Department is seriously investigating the discrepancy between the number of rebars and the plans at One Stanley in Stanley, and has asked the Development Bureau to monitor the investigation, as well as to enhance legal regulatory requirements and penalties for construction works overall to ensure deterrence. He reiterated that the government attaches importance to the quality of construction works in Hong Kong, and is concerned whether professionals have exercised due supervision and whether contractors have carried out works in violation of regulations, adding that proposals to amend the Buildings Ordinance will be submitted within the year.
