Hung Hom Waterfront Commercial Space May Be Excessive as Development Bureau Says Floor Area Already Cut

The Development Bureau has revised development proposals for the area around Hung Hom Station and the waterfront, cutting the share of commercial floor area in the district from nearly 60 per cent to more than 30 per cent, while raising residential floor area from about 40 per cent to more than 60 per cent. Kowloon West lawmaker Vincent Cheng Wing-shun expressed concern in the Legislative Council that the Hung Hom site would overlap with commercial floor area in Kai Tak and the West Kowloon Cultural District, causing vicious competition. Development Bureau Permanent Secretary Ho Pui-ling reiterated that the bureau had listened to market views and reduced commercial floor area.
