HKMA Urges Public to Watch Out for Fraudulent Websites and Phishing SMS Messages Involving Six Banks

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority calls on the public to stay alert, announcing that Bank of East Asia, Shanghai Commercial Bank, Chong Hing Bank, Chiba Bank, HSBC and Livi Bank have issued press releases regarding fraudulent websites, login screens or phishing SMS messages. The HKMA reminds the public that banks will not request login passwords or one-time passwords via hyperlinks, and those affected should contact their banks in accordance with the press releases and report the case to the Information Centre of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Hong Kong Police Force by calling 2860 5012.
