Six Lawmakers Meet Tse Chin-Wan to Urge Fuel Subsidies; Government Says It Will Study and Consider

6 Legislative Council members met today with Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-Wan to report that surging oil prices have kept fuel prices persistently high for commercial vehicles, vessels and related industrial and commercial sectors, and proposed that the government reintroduce fuel subsidies, waive licence fees for commercial vehicles and vessels, and set up a fuel price stabilisation fund. Participants quoted Tse Chin-Wan as saying the government understands the industry's difficulties and will study and consider the support proposals.
