Housing Secretary Winnie Ho said the government has launched a study of the "Home Ownership Scheme for rental flats", engaging a consultancy to design questionnaires and conduct extensive research on relaunching or expanding the scheme, with results to be announced later. She stressed that a balance must be struck while enriching the housing ladder, avoiding excessive overlap among housing types. On average, about 12,000 subsidised sale flats will be put up for sale each year in future, and Northern Metropolis projects will further increase the proportion of larger units.
