Eric Yip, Chairman of the Advisory Council on the Environment, said that as to whether the Government will appeal against the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for the development of the former Fanling Golf Course site, the Advisory Council on the Environment respects the court ruling. He said that when the court considers the original EIA report insufficient, supplementary information can be provided to stakeholders to make up for the shortcomings, but in accordance with the principle of fairness, a public consultation procedure must be carried out to clarify matters. He also said that public housing development and the way forward have no direct relationship with the scope of services and powers of the Advisory Council on the Environment.
