CU Medicine Student Develops AI Tool CancerCompanion to Provide Emotional Support for Cancer Patients Between Follow-Up Consultations

Chinese University of Hong Kong medical student Chan Shu-ying is developing an AI digital companion tool, CancerCompanion, to provide emotional support for cancer patients between follow-up consultations, including during late-night hours when immediate professional help is hard to obtain. A large analysis integrating multiple studies shows that depression and anxiety are associated with lower chances of survival.
