Cross-Border Bus Sector Adds Staff to Cope with Weekend Huanggang Port Passenger Flow; Lawmaker Proposes Real-Time Data
跨境巴業界增人手應對周末客流 議員倡設實時數據讓旅客知悉情況
Hong Kong Non-Franchised Bus Association chairman Choi Shun-kei said the sector has added staff for 3 consecutive days from Friday to Sunday to cope with the expected significant increase in cross-border passenger trips at Huanggang Port. He proposed the government set up a bus-only lane to Huanggang Port, and believed that with traffic control on San Tin Highway and diversion through buffer zones, cross-border buses could maintain a one-way journey of about 40 minutes. New Territories North Legislative Council member Yiu Ming proposed that authorities provide online real-time data so travellers can keep abreast of clearance and road conditions and consider travelling at off-peak times.
