Government Sets Up Fishermen Ex-Gratia Allowance Appeal Board to Handle Cases Affected by Marine Works in Northeastern Waters

The government announced today the establishment of the Fishermen Ex-Gratia Allowance Appeal Board to handle appeals lodged by owners of fishing vessels not exceeding 15 metres in length affected by marine works in Hong Kong's northeastern waters. The interdepartmental working group received 861 applications during the registration period, and the government received 3 appeals, 1 concerning the approved amount and 2 concerning eligibility. The board is chaired by Yeung Ming-tai, with the appointment effective immediately and lasting until all appeal cases are completed.
