MTR Tung Chung West Station Site Pillars Had Unapproved Repairs; Work Stopped Immediately

MTR says some pillar top ends at the platform level of the Tung Chung West Station site had undergone unapproved material filling repair work, and it has instructed the main contractor to stop the work immediately and launch an in-depth investigation. MTR says the situation does not involve structural safety, and the main contractor must submit a report and rectification plan and may only resume work after approval, with the related costs borne by the main contractor. MTR says the matter was discovered during a routine inspection last month and the relevant government departments have been notified.
