Government raises minimum wage for foreign domestic workers to $5,220; Chris Sun says adjustment follows mechanism

The government announced that the minimum wage for foreign domestic workers will rise from $5,100 to $5,220 per month, an increase of 2.35%. Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun said the annual adjustment mechanism has long been in place and proven effective, with reference made to data on Hong Kong's economic performance, inflation and employers' income. A foreign domestic workers' union considers the increase "negligible", still a distance from the over $6,172 it advocates.
