Paul Lam Says Country Has Expectations for Hong Kong, Hopes It Can Serve as International Legal and Dispute Resolution Services Centre
Secretary for Justice Paul Lam says the country has expectations of and tasks for Hong Kong, which must serve as an international legal and dispute resolution services centre. He feels a great responsibility and hopes to do as much work as possible and provide good legal services to colleagues within the government. Speaking on a radio programme, he described the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law holding the opening ceremony of its Hong Kong liaison office and celebrating its 100th anniversary on the first day of Hong Kong Legal Week last week as symbolic. He said that with the country's support, the relevant international organisation establishing a presence in Hong Kong has important strategic significance for the country and also shows that Hong Kong has a good reputation and rule of law environment.
