CK Asset issued a statement denying mainland rumours that Li Ka-shing, founder of the CK group of companies, had died, saying it was "absolutely not true", and strongly condemned the self-media involved for sensationalism and fabricating fake news. Ta Kung Pao clarified on the same day that it had never published the relevant content and had sent a lawyer's letter to the account concerned.
