Tai Po fire: Independent committee submits final report on Wang Fuk Court blaze to Hong Kong leader
The independent committee investigating last year's blaze at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po has submitted its final report to Chief Executive John Lee, setting out the cause of the fire and recommending that responsibility be pursued. The committee is chaired by Mr Justice David Lok, with Chan Kin-po and Ronald Arculli as members. The government said it will study the report carefully and announce reform and accountability plans as soon as possible, but because several people have already been charged with criminal offences, it must first seek legal advice and will release a redacted version as early as next week.
The independent committee has submitted its final report to the Chief Executive. The public may note which departments and contractors are named as responsible, and when the government will announce reform and accountability arrangements.
