Bernadette Linn: EMSD Prosecuted 22 Cases of Lift Contractor Violations in 5 Years, Took 10 Disciplinary Actions

Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn says that over the past 5 years, the EMSD successfully prosecuted 22 cases involving violations by registered lift contractors or engineering personnel, and took 10 disciplinary actions, including cancellation of registration, suspension of registration and fines. She says the EMSD has launched a comprehensive review covering new installation and major alteration works, examination and maintenance requirements and the supervision system, expected to be completed by end-this year, during which the scope of on-site re-inspections will be expanded. The independent investigation report on the lift works at Clinical Block 1 of Queen Mary Hospital has been submitted to the Chief Executive.
