Security Secretary Pledges Fire Services Department Restructuring to Strengthen Crackdown on Unauthorised Shutdowns of Fire Systems

The independent committee investigating the Wang Fuk Court fire published its report on Thursday, criticising the Fire Services Department for relying on a "passive, document-driven" vetting system and for taking no action even after being notified that the estate's fire hydrant and hose reel systems had been shut down. The Secretary for Security pledged to strengthen enforcement against unauthorised shutdowns of fire systems and to carry out a structural restructuring of the Fire Services Department.
