The Hong Kong Postal Employees' Union said that at the departmental consultative committee meeting in the morning, the Postmaster General announced that 261 new-recruitment postal officers unable to be converted to long-term civil service employment would receive special arrangements including a one-off in-service transfer scheme, with positions including Assistant Clerical Officer or Clerk Assistant. Those who have passed the probationary period will have uninterrupted service upon transfer, changing to a special probationary period of one year, with pay generally not lower than the original salary, and may retain their original pay points.
