AFCD to catch unattended dogs at high-risk locations over the next four months

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) will launch a new phase of special operations starting today, prioritising high-risk locations where dogs have attacked passers-by and where stray dogs gather over the next four months to catch unattended dogs. The department will also carry out joint enforcement operations with the police when necessary. The department will check microchip and licence records to contact dog owners, and dogs whose owners cannot be found will be handed over to animal welfare organisations for neutering and adoption arrangements, and will not be released directly back into the community.
