National Day fireworks light up Victoria Harbour as 380,000 spectators exceed expectations

The National Day 77th anniversary fireworks display took to the skies over Victoria Harbour at 8pm last night, lasting 23 minutes. Police said about 380,000 people watched from both sides of the harbour, more than the earlier estimate of 260,000. The Observatory issued a Very Hot Weather Warning at one point yesterday afternoon, but this did not deter residents and visitors, with many arriving at the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront in the afternoon to wait. One visitor from Shenzhen had arrived at the scene at about 2pm.
