Hong Kong Spirit Award: Cantonese Opera Master Leung Sum-yee Stays Committed to Passing on the Art for Over 30 Years

Cantonese opera master Leung Sum-yee has become a Hong Kong Spirit Award recipient through more than 30 years of teaching Cantonese opera and promoting its culture. She founded a Cantonese opera organisation and stressed that the goal is not to train stars or idols, but to let more people know about Cantonese opera and increase the audience. She said that even if students cannot become performers, it is equally worthwhile if they leave knowing how to distinguish good Cantonese opera from bad.
